Help Keep Chat-e-Cycle Rolling

If you have some time on your hands, are a keen cyclist, and would like to offer your time to support Chat-e-Cycle, we would love to hear from you. Volunteering is a rewarding way to support the local community, meet new people, and help others enjoy the benefits of fresh air and companionship. Full training, orientation and support are provided, and you can give as much time as suits you.

FAQs

Where are you located?

We are location Manor Farm, Welton – right next to the Radstock Greenways Cycle track

All year round! Whether you decide to go out on the bike in cold wet weather is completely up to you.

If you are open to getting a bit wet, then we are too… Chat-e-Cycle can go in all weathers, but we want you to be comfortable so it is up to you if you want to brace the elements. Previously we have covered the seats in plastic bags and advised people to wear ponchos! Alternatively, we can always re-arrange for when the weather is better.

Chat-e-Cycle is not-for-profit and offers a “pay what you can” scheme as we never want cost to be prohibitive to someone using the trike. You can get in touch with us to book a free trial, and we can take it from there.

In 2026, we will be launching a Membership scheme so if you plan on using the trike on a regular basis you can sign-up as an annual subscription member and receive some (optional) Chat-e-Cycle merchandise and newsletters.

The volunteers are often local people who are passionate about cycling and supporting their local community. Volunteers have all been through a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and have had training and competencies on the safe use of Chat-e-Cycle on the roads.

It is up to you and how comfortable you feel. We can plan a journey that matches the time you have available and your comfort. We tend to stick to quieter roads and cycle paths.

Chat-e-Cycle can be adapted to suit the cyclist’s needs – with adjusting pedals and the position of the seat we will aim to get you as comfortable as possible. Everybody is different, so the best thing to do is get in touch with us and arrange a trial to see if we can find a configuration that works best for you.

That’s absolutely fine. We would much rather people have the opportunity to try Chat-e-Cycle and decide for themselves. There is no obligation to continue, and no pressure — just a chance to experience something new in a relaxed and supportive environment.

After your trial, we’ll ask you to complete a simple co-pilot sign-up form. This confirms that you feel comfortable using the trike. Once that’s done, we’ll put you in touch with a volunteer so you can arrange trips and times that suit you, making it easy to enjoy cycling at your own pace.
